BMTA ACTIVITY CALENDAR
BMTA normally schedules four or five hikes per month, some “leisure” hikes that are shorter and easier and some 5 to 8 miles and of moderate difficulty. In addition, we have occasional backpacking hikes and more difficult ones that might be called “hardy hikes.” Occasionally we co-sponsor hikes with other organizations. Some, but not all, of our hikes are “dog friendly.” Although more hikes are in Georgia than the other states, you will find hikes in all three BMT states: Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee.
TN / NC July 18 Work Trip
Where: Section to be worked: Section 16a: Sandy Gap to Round Top
When: July 18, 2020 – 9:00 AM.
Meet Up Location: Coker Creek Welcome Center TN 68.
Bring: Day pack with 2 liters of water, lunch, gloves, brushcutter, extra fuel, swing blade or loppers if you have them.
Provided: Brushcutters, swing blades, loppers and hard hats will be provided if needed.
What to Wear: Per USFS, boots and long pants are required.
Plan for the Day: We will drive to Sandy Gap and work from there brushing out the trail. Will also run a chainsaw crew as well. This will be one way in and out. Therefore, volunteers will have to leap frog the work in order to maintain necessary physical distancing requirements.
