BMTA normally schedules four or five hikes per month, some “leisure” hikes that are shorter and easier and some 5 to 8 miles and of moderate difficulty. In addition, we have occasional backpacking hikes and more difficult ones that might be called “hardy hikes.” Occasionally we co-sponsor hikes with other organizations. Some, but not all, of our hikes are “dog friendly.” Although more hikes are in Georgia than the other states, you will find hikes in all three BMT states: Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee.

GA August 13 Work Trip

Where:  Section 4a and 4b – Skeenah Gap to Wilscot Gap
When:  Saturday, August 13, 2022
Time:  9:00 AM
Meeting Location:  Wilscot Gap GA Hwy 60
Parking:  Available at the Wilscot Gap trailhead

Plan for the Day: We will have two crews working on Sections 4a and b. We will meet at Wilscot Gap, determine crews and depart for the trail.

  • Crew 1:  Skeenah Gap North – Brushing and Water Diversions
  • Crew 2:  Wilscot Gap South – Brushing and Water Diversions

What to Wear and Bring:  Minimum 2 liters of water, snacks, long pants, boots, gloves and helmets (available if needed – indicate if needed in the RSVP)

Tools:  Bring a string trimmer or a brushcutter, if you own one, and don’t mind using it on the trail.
