BMTA ACTIVITY CALENDAR

BMTA normally schedules four or five hikes per month, some “leisure” hikes that are shorter and easier and some 5 to 8 miles and of moderate difficulty. In addition, we have occasional backpacking hikes and more difficult ones that might be called “hardy hikes.” Occasionally we co-sponsor hikes with other organizations. Some, but not all, of our hikes are “dog friendly.” Although more hikes are in Georgia than the other states, you will find hikes in all three BMT states: Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee.

2026 BMTA/AllTrails Clean Trails Day

Come out and enjoy a day exploring the mountains of North Georgia.

BMTA and AllTrails are partnering on this spring’s Clean Trails Day.

Stop by one of our event tents at Fall Branch Falls in Gilmer County or the Swinging Bridge in Fannin County as well as Bald River Falls in Tennessee. BMTA volunteers will be on hand to answer your questions about hiking, camping and backpacking opportunities in the area. They also can tell you how to hike the trails safely and to leave the pathways in pristine condition for future hikers to enjoy.

You’re encouraged to take a “hands on” approach to remove any trace of civilization from the trail. You will receive a bag and gloves so you can remove any litter you spot along the way. Bring the bags back to the event tent so they can be taken to the dump.
