BMTA ACTIVITY CALENDAR

BMTA normally schedules four or five hikes per month, some “leisure” hikes that are shorter and easier and some 5 to 8 miles and of moderate difficulty. In addition, we have occasional backpacking hikes and more difficult ones that might be called “hardy hikes.” Occasionally we co-sponsor hikes with other organizations. Some, but not all, of our hikes are “dog friendly.” Although more hikes are in Georgia than the other states, you will find hikes in all three BMT states: Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee.

February 11 GA Maintenance Trip

Where: Sections 12a-b-c – US 64 >> FS 23
When:  Saturday, February 11, 2023
Time:  9:00AM

Parking:  Thunder Rock Campground
Plan for the Day:  This work trip will be in Tennessee and will be in addition to the regular fourth Saturday Tennessee workday. Three crews will be working on different sections. The primary focus will be water diversions, tread repair and blowdowns.

  • Crew 1:  Section 12a – US64 >> Dry Pond
  • Crew 2:  Section 12b – Dry Pond >> Kimsey Hwy
  • Crew 3:  Section 12c – Kimsey Hwy >> FS 23

What to Wear and Bring:  Minimum 2 liters of water, long pants, boots, gloves and helmets (available if needed – indicate if needed in the RSVP).

Chowtime at the Trailhead

We will be working in a wide range of areas. Consequently, Chow Time at the Trailhead will not be held. Please bring lunch, snacks and plenty to drink.


Remember, you must be a BMTA Member to be a Section Maintainer!
