BMTA normally schedules four or five hikes per month, some “leisure” hikes that are shorter and easier and some 5 to 8 miles and of moderate difficulty. In addition, we have occasional backpacking hikes and more difficult ones that might be called “hardy hikes.” Occasionally we co-sponsor hikes with other organizations. Some, but not all, of our hikes are “dog friendly.” Although more hikes are in Georgia than the other states, you will find hikes in all three BMT states: Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee.

January 14 GA Maintenance Trip

When:  January 14, 2023
Where:  Suspension Bridge (Section 2c) and Rhodes Mountain (Section 3c)
Time:  9:00 AM
Meeting Location: Hwy 60 at Little Skeenah Creek –
Parking:  Available at Hwy 60>>Little Skeenah Creek
What to Bring/What to Wear:  Minimum 2 liters of water, snacks, long pants, boots, gloves and helmets (available if needed – indicate if needed in the RSVP).

Plan for the Day:  We will have two crews working on different sections. The primary focus will be water diversions and the Rhodes Mountain reroute.

  • Crew 1:  Water Diversions – Section 2c
  • Crew 2:  Rhodes Mountain Reroute – 3c

Chowtime at the Trailhead

We will be working in a wide range of areas. Consequently, Chow Time at the Trailhead will NOT be held. Please bring lunch, snacks and plenty to drink.

Remember, you must be a BMTA Member to be a Section Maintainer!
