BMTA normally schedules four or five hikes per month, some “leisure” hikes that are shorter and easier and some 5 to 8 miles and of moderate difficulty. In addition, we have occasional backpacking hikes and more difficult ones that might be called “hardy hikes.” Occasionally we co-sponsor hikes with other organizations. Some, but not all, of our hikes are “dog friendly.” Although more hikes are in Georgia than the other states, you will find hikes in all three BMT states: Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee.

March 25 TN/NC Maintenance Trip

When:   Saturday, March 25, 2023
Where:  Section 17a – Tellico River
Meeting Location: Pheasant Field parking area (adjacent to the Tellico Fish Hatchery)
Time:  9:00 AM
What to Bring/What to Wear:  Water, food/snacks, gloves, long pants and boots. Bring safety glasses and hard hats if you have them.

*May be a good idea to wear your old boots and/or bring a change of footwear.

Tools Needed:  We may already have all the tools required. More to follow after we have volunteer numbers!

Plan for the Day:  We have numerous soggy locations that need to be addressed. Drainage and stone placement are the chores of the day

Chowtime at the Trailhead

Chef Patty will serve a delicious meal at the end of the workday at the Pheasant Field parking area!!
