BMTA normally schedules four or five hikes per month, some “leisure” hikes that are shorter and easier and some 5 to 8 miles and of moderate difficulty. In addition, we have occasional backpacking hikes and more difficult ones that might be called “hardy hikes.” Occasionally we co-sponsor hikes with other organizations. Some, but not all, of our hikes are “dog friendly.” Although more hikes are in Georgia than the other states, you will find hikes in all three BMT states: Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee.

November 12 GA Work Trip

When:  November 12, 2022
Where:   Section 10a Watson Gap’s Mill Creek Bridge
Time:  9:00 AM
Meeting Location:  Blue Ridge Home Depot Parking Lot (Near the Dairy Queen)
Parking & Carpooling Info:  We will meet at the Home Depot, conduct our safety briefing and depart for the trail — due to limited parking at the trailhead, we will carpool to Watson Gap.
What to Bring/What to Wear:  Minimum 2 liters of water, snacks, long pants, boots, gloves, and helmets (available if needed – indicate if needed in the RSVP).

Plan for the Day:  We will be doing some repairs to the Mill Creek Bridge (mile point 74.8) on Section 10a. This project will involve moving lumber, hardware and tools from FS 22 (mile point 73.8) to the bridge and making the necessary repairs.
